Led by ghostly guitars and powerful vocals, “Break” showcases the passionate, outpouring pop sound of Crystal Rose. The track precedes her upcoming EP, Anew. Currently based in Brooklyn, Crystal Rose grew up in San Diego. Guitarist/producer Emi Trevena, Crystal Rose’s good friend and past roommate, is a collaborating songwriter on Anew.
Haunting guitars and emotive vocals craft a compelling, intimate beginning. “Keeping busy, making plans,” the vocals let out, accompanied chillingly with a reflective backing. “I don’t believe in running,” the layered refrain consumes with, evoking a mysterious sense of power.
The soothing backing vocals and gentle guitar pulses combine with the ardent vocal lead for a stirring production, putting on display Crystal Rose’s stellar songwriting and atmospheric production. Twinkling keys and hypnotic vocal effects close the track with captivating mystique.
