“Sirena” is an infectious pop success from New York-based band SYTË. Dreamy synth pulses build into a suave vocal lead, opening “I know you inside out, I know you all too well.” The intimate confessional sees a gradual escalation of soulful vocals, culminating in the replay-inducing hook. “I don’t wanna play her game,” Nita Kaja’s ethereal vocals let out, accompanied by vibrant synth tones and playful guitar jangles.
Nita’s gripping vocal work and Drin Tashi’s lush pop production combine for a delectable treat throughout, one that captures the four-piece’s knack for balancing laid-back serenity with bursting pop hooks. Accessible and polished, the track’s production shines in showcasing an immediately charming vein of songwriting. Playing like the pop anthem to an underwater paradise one can escape to at will, “Sirena” is a blissful success from SYTË.
Nita elaborates further on the track:
“I wrote this song about confronting a dark feminine energy within me, that I’ve personified as “Sirena”, or the “siren swimming in my heart”, because it attempted to sabotage the first healthy and stable relationship in my life. Growing up with low self-esteem…I tied my self-worth to my ability to attract men and make them fall for me, all while still keeping my guard up and restraining my own emotional desire to be vulnerable and intimate. I wrote this song to heal from this defence mechanism, though old habits die hard.”
