Space Equator – “Sapphire”

/

“Sapphire” is a striking new track from Space Equator, the project of Brendan Fillingham, a Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer.

Hazy synth lushness and a jumpy bass line complement a mellow vocal contemplation, the dazed lead bolstered by subtle backing reflections. “No matter where I land, I’m never coming back,” Fillingham sings. The serene synth work and contrasting rhythmic bustle conjures an entrancing soundscape reminiscent of Unknown Mortal Orchestra.

The consuming “Sapphire” represents the second single from Space Equator’s upcoming full-length, self-titled vinyl, releasing on Sundog Sound.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2022’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
