Showing a hooky power-pop lushness, “Golden” is a melodic single from Northern California-based trio Winsome, from their new album Live Like Your Kids Drive Here.
Summertime sounds — a fun park-like setting — eases into perky guitar tones and a playful bass line. The quaint vocal presence and steadily escalating guitar presence drives into the warming “here it goes again,” chorus, reminiscent of a more dazed-out Teenage Fanclub. The layers of vocal harmonizing and delectable guitar twangs converge throughout for an audible delight.
“When we were first starting off as a band we would play at this open mic called Golden Bear in Sacramento Ca,” the band writes. “This song is about showing up every Tuesday night, finding our sound and making friends.”
