Mishell Ivon – “ENERGY”

/

Strutting a glitzy pop feeling that merges ’80s and ’90s nostalgia, “ENERGY” is a hooky new track from Mishell Ivon, an artist from Munich, Germany. Crafted alongside Canadian producer Jordan Perry, “ENERGY” is meticulously produced and packs ample punch.

The grimy club synth and percussion adorns a laid-back vocal presence initially, more of the ’90s variety. “Look at me, do you believe,” Ivon sings during the escalating bridge, culminating in the replay-inducing “stop playing games,” hook. Here, the twinkling synths and more exuberant vocal showing echoes an ’80s charisma.

Parts Britney, Bananarama, and Michael Jackson, “ENERGY” is a hook-filled winner from Mishell Ivon.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2022’ Spotify playlist.
