Exuding a melodic rock sound with unrequited yearning, “Thinking Of You” is a new track from EVNTYD, the Austin-based project of Julián Berdegué. Tender guitar twangs and a jangly underlying charm complement retrospective vocal allure. The one-minute mark shines, the vocals exuding a title-referencing adoration amidst more vibrant guitar expressions. “The stars will conspire to assuage my desire for you,” he sings during the mellow ensuing verses, giving way to another bursting “thinking of you,” rise thereafter. “Thinking Of You” is another success from the project, which impressed earlier this year with the track “Parisian Fur.”
“I wrote this unrequited love song in the days that followed an encounter I had with a girl at a bar in Ipswich, UK,” Berdegué says. “That night, I danced with her and felt an attraction I hadn’t felt in a long time (keep in mind, my time in England was spent making ends meet and writing songs), but I knew I had nothing to offer the likes of her (I was broke) and I’d never see her again.”
