Cara Doc – “Parole”

“Parole” is the sweltering, moody debut single from Cara Doc, an artist from the north coast of Ireland. The track comes via her upcoming album, Ode to the Oversoul.

Hazy acoustics and a solemn twangy accompaniment guide alongside Cara’s ghostly vocals. “And I’m grateful,” she ascends, concluding with a smoky “got me out on parole,” punctuation with late-night organs. A striking melodic shift past the three-minute mark — the “out on patrol,” refrain — closes the track on a wholly satiating note. “Parole” consumes with its intoxicating, smoke-filled atmosphere and compelling vocal work.

The track was recorded and co-produced by Michael Mormecha at Tree Song Studios, and features the guitar work of John ‘Doc Doherty’ (The Xdreamysts, Tony Villiers & The Villains).

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2022’ Spotify playlist.
