As we head into the weekend, grab a glass of “LEMONADE” from Ottawa-based duo Wotts. Following up their previous retro-inspired single “DOMINO,” “LEMONADE” plays with an ethereal breeziness throughout.

Bubbly keys and a gently pulsing rhythmic backbone complement an amiably honest vocal delivery. “Really don’t know nothing,” the opening line admits, expressing a humbleness in the face of adversity in hoping to see the light. Effervescent keys add enjoyably around the track’s mid-point, gliding seamlessly backing into the hypnotic verses. The twinkling keys and lush vocals converge cohesively throughout for an accessible, atmospheric pop success.

“While on the surface it may sound like a chill summer tune, it’s a song about breaking through tough times,” the duo says. “There will be moments when you’re not able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but hopefully there’s something or someone there to remind you about the good.”

The duo comprises vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Jayem and bassist/guitarist Ricky 100.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2022’ Spotify playlist.
