Emphasizing Deep Dive Species‘ gripping blend of guitar-fronted rock with atmospheric synths and trip-hop rhythms, “One Hand Clap” is an engrossing track from the New York-based duo.
“One Hand Clap” comes via Deep Dive Species’ newly released debut album, Aquaphilia, touting a commendable tonal range, from contemplative stylistic hybrids like “One Hand Clap” to bustling electronica like “Azimuth” and the exotic “Sand Story,” which touts dexterous guitar work and soaring vocal snippets.
Releasing with a music video, above, “One Hand Clap” builds from a placid bass line and gradually involved guitar work. Subdued percussion hypnotizes amidst the suave guitar shivers (the Lynchian influence is present at moments like these, and within the video itself). Enchanted glistening adorns the background past the mid-point, assuming a tropical shift at the three-minute mark; bird-chirping and wordless vocals converge amidst playful synths for a breezy, delightful pull.
The duo of Vadim Militsin and Sergey Popovich also impress throughout the rest of the album, streaming below:
