A new track from Seasoning, the Brisbane-based project led by Lachlan Buckle, “Del Boca Vista” captivates with a serenely jangly charm. “I don’t wanna live that way,” the vocals let out, as a subsequent string-forward section takes powerful hold. The strings resonate amidst the melodic guitar work for a nostalgic pull, reminiscent of Smashing Pumpkins’ more understated material.
The track’s lyrics, reflecting a strained relationship in need of repair, consume throughout; Buckle’s lush vocals do not ascend much above a whisper, while still managing an emotive power in an aptly sigh-like demeanor. “It’s getting very late,” he sings past the mid-point, accompanied enjoyably by clicking percussion and piano-laden adornments. “Del Boca Vista” is an emotive heart-tugging with serenely captivating charm.
Following the debut single “Friends,” “Del Boca Vista” represents the second single from Seasoning’s debut EP, The Condensation, releasing on June 10th.
