Waves Crashing – “Capsized” + “high/low”

/

A captivating rocker with qualities reminiscent of The Stone Roses, “Capsized” is a new track from Waves Crashing, a quartet from Olympia, Washington. Jangly guitar-pop charms intertwine with darker, escalating distortion to craft a sound that hooks with immediacy and soaring captivation. The second half dazzles with a surf-friendly demeanor, within the murky vocals and gliding guitars.

“Capsized” comes via the newly released EP, high/low, which also touts a standout title track. Within the first minute, sharp contrasts between quaint bass-led eeriness and thunderous rock provide a stellar climactic pull. The anthemic culmination, past the two-minute mark, succeeds thoroughly with a replay-inducing bite. Stream the stellar EP below:

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2022’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
