Unveiling a catching pop sound with atmospheric production, Nathan Colberg is an artist from Charlottesville, Virginia. His debut EP, Dream On, Kid., features six tracks, touting a sleekly produced and hook-abundant style of pop, ranging from the starry-eyed yearning of “Oblivion” to the anthemic opener “Gateway Bridge.”
The EP title serves partly as a message of hope to “keep going when hope seems all but lost,” with positive and heartfelt vibes projected throughout the production. “Around the World” serves ’90s pop nostalgia in its embrace of traveling alongside your best friend, complemented enjoyably by pulsing keys and endearing vocals.
“Hold You Tonight” follows up with similarly romantic themes. The EP’s second half charms with beautifully written love songs and ballads, with the first few tracks touting a more anthemic vein of pop. Dream On, Kid. succeeds with this melodically catching variety.
