“Cazadero” is a recent track from Oakland-based artist Chris Portka, whose prior tracks “A Candle is a Raging Fire!” and “Hey buddy, can you spare $74k / year?” showcased his idiosyncratic songwriting. “Cazadero” also fits in the rock-centric mold, with woo-ing vocal effects mingling with a suave lead, in a decisive vein that swaps suaveness/energy in a form reminiscent of Talking Heads. Described by Portka as a “rambling VU-esque rock song about my little slice of heaven on Earth found in Cazadero, California,” the fuzzy guitar swirling and addictive vocal refrains make for an entertaining result throughout.
