Supertentacles – “Turtle Shell”

/

“Turtle Shell” is a new track from Supertentacles, the moniker of Milwaukee-based musician and producer Sean Anderson. A fat bass line emits a synth-tinged quality reminiscent of Flaming Lips, while the guitars exude a more rock-forward crispness. “Truth be told, it happens all the time,” the chorus begins, the key-laden reflection and melodic guitars navigating to a heavier rock tone as the vocals fade. The rising verses build delightfully to this hooky chorus, the three-minute mark unveiling a catching guitar sequence with escalating momentum.

Per Anderson, the track is “about self doubt and comparing yourself to others who are more ‘successful,’ but also channeling that doubt into a force that drives you to continue creating and being yourself.”

The track comes via Supertentacles’ new album King of Nothing, streaming below:

“Turtle Shell” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2021’ Spotify playlist.
