The emotive “Echoes” is a track from the DARK ROOMS EP, a new release from Malfoid, an artist from Davenport, IA. Serene guitar and mellow vocals drive to a melancholic vocal lead, lamenting loss and striving to eradicate personal demons. The track is nicely representative of the album’s intimate and dark sound, reminding fondly of UK rapper Dave both here and on the pulsing piano-led “Tell Me How U Feel,” especially. The retrospective lyrical content and dark, piano-laden beats consume throughout the EP, a strong showing from Malfoid, who recorded the release at his home studio.
“DARK ROOMS is an EP written and based off my dark emotions,” Malfoid says. “I recorded the whole EP by myself in a dark room with just me and my thoughts. I lost family members and other unfortunate events happened while working on this project so I wanted people to be able to feel and relate to my pain while also making good music.”
