Day & Dream – “Separation Anxiety”

/

The bond between dogs and humans is a beautiful one, conveying an unconditional love to behold. Kinship with dogs has inspired songs from many artists, ranging from The Beatles to Neil Young and Dolly Parton, and among the latest is “Separation Anxiety,” from Day & Dream. The Asheville, NC-based band craft a dreamy delight throughout the track, which member Abby Amaya wrote about her beloved goldendoodle Zeppi (shown on the cover). Per the band: “The song starts off sad and has a happy ending, symbolizing when the two are depressed at first only to reunite and show their love.” The lush guitar tones and late-night vocals conjure a feeling reminiscent of TOPS, evolving into a tender guitar-fronted conclusion with the sounds of dog barks and birds chirping.

“Separation Anxiety” comes via the band’s upcoming album, The Art Of Remembering, released by indie Filipino record label Lilystars Records.

“Separation Anxiety” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
