Psychedelic, bluesy guitar howls and accelerating percussion lead into a confident vocal lead: “come on darling, take a ride and see why I’m the one.” The mid-point finds pulsing, warbled guitars launch into a psychedelic splendor, the brief interlude around three minutes in guiding into a title-referencing refrain that emits ample power. Similar rock goodness can be found throughout Badlands, an accomplishment from the San Diego-based artist, released on his Kommune Records label imprint.
