“She’s A Chameleon” is a new track from Los Angeles-based artist Luke Frees, the first single from Frees’ upcoming album, Point Of You, out in November. There’s a natural, communal feeling throughout the track, bolstered by the sing-a-long vocal layering during the title-referencing hook, in addition to the constant structural expansion. The piano entry past the mid-point adds further to the lively, vibrantly free allure — with a glam revival fervor.
The track was crafted by three friends playing guitars in a living room, lyrically relaying “the story of a fake friend who tries to get people to like her by putting on different personalities, but ultimately doesn’t fool anyone.” The result is one that consumes with a timeless-sounding, contagious energy — resembling a trio of good friends bemoaning a peer’s fakeness, though without getting too negative as to send negative vibes throughout the party.
