Letting Up Despite Great Faults – “Gemini”

/

“Gemini” is a gorgeously lush track from Letting Up Despite Great Faults, based in Austin, Texas. The project first caught our ear back in 2012, with the track “Scratch” and album Untogether. Over the next decade, they continued to churn out quality material with dream-pop allure, including 2014 full-length Neon and 2017’s Alexander Devotion EP. The most recent entry is “Gemini,” the first single off the forthcoming album IV. Shimmering keys and reverberating guitars construct an underlying textured pull with a shoegaze feel. Jangly guitars emerge through the thickness around the two-minute turn, as more prominent percussion and key-laden effervescence also come forward. “Gemini” certainly has me anticipating IV.

“Gemini” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
