The captivating “Truths You Crave” is a newly released track from Belladon, a project led by Aimee Jacobs, the former singer and synth player of The Burning of Rome. Jacobs formed the project out of an effort to bridge her classic music education with contemporary pop music. “I didn’t really fit with classical academia or the rock/pop (name a genre) music scene,” Jacobs says. “People stuck their noses up at me from both sides for different reasons.”
“Truths You Crave” enthralls with a diverse song structure and genre-hopping defiance, remaining melodically magnetic throughout. Wispy synths and building rhythms complement a soaring vocal presence to start, followed by fluid guitar-forward suaveness. Glistening synths accompany the ensuing vocal hook, giving off a superb sophisti-pop character. Thereafter, the track journeys into impressive sequences of rock theatrics with psychedelic appeal, the eclectic guitar work leading the way alongside Jacobs’ vocals. “Truths You Crave” thoroughly invigorates.
