Immortal Machinery – “Melody in the Mist (Mikrocosmos Vol. 4)”

/

An atmospheric jazz track from London-based duo Immortal Machinery, “Melody in the Mist (Mikrocosmos Vol. 4)” comes via the new EP Bartok – ReOrganised. The release pays tribute to Hungarian composer Bela Bartok, reimagining works from the composer for a modern electric ensemble. Immortal Machinery place notable emphasis on a Hammond organ throughout, with additions from piano, violin, and a jazz-forward rhythm section. “Melody in the Mist (Mikrocosmos Vol. 4)” is particularly consuming, featuring the development of a solemn bass alongside atmospheric piano glistens and atmospheric organ. The mood throughout this track, and the four others on the EP, plays with creative intensity — from the dark bustling of “Clash and Clang (Mikrocosmos Vol. 4)” to the intense organs and strings on haunting opener “Allegro Molto (String Quartet No. 4, 5th Mvmt).”
