Corinne Sharlet – “Pink Summer Moon”

//

“Pink Summer Moon” is an enchanting, meditative track from Corinne Sharlet, off her forthcoming debut album A Lovely Future, out this summer. Sharlet recorded “Pink Summer Moon” directly to an analogue tape machine in Portland, OR during quarantine, aiming to “create an intergalactic escape sound with spacey electric guitar, pulsing hand-drum percussion and the lyrics ‘set the night on fire / call me by my name / am I the only one who knows you like this / do I burn a secret flame?'”

The rich vocal presence rises during the chilling turn past the one-minute mark — “I want you to stay, don’t leave me alone,” — as clanging guitars and hand-drum percussion fully hypnotize. Sharlet’s reverberating vocal emotion and striking songwriting reminds fondly of Weyes Blood and Mazzy Star, captivating during the track’s entirety.

“Pink Summer Moon” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Folk.
