Ad Vanderveen – “Release”

/

Amsterdam-based singer/songwriter Ad Vanderveen shows his strongly authentic vocal presence and folk sound on recent track “Release,” from the album of the same name. The album’s ten original tracks show an emotive folk sound with a knack for memorable hooks, such as the “leave me alone right now,” escalation during “Release,” reminding fondly of Neil Young. The artist’s previous album, Treasure Keepers, was a more stripped-down production, though Release certainly continues an emphasis on vocals and acoustic guitar. On “Release,” a spirited backing vocal emerges during the second chorus, the concluding “still I gotta fight to find release,” fully resonating. The harmonica additions adds further vibrancy, carrying into a satisfying conclusion.

“Release” and other memorable tracks from March can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2021’ Spotify playlist.
