Moon Beach – “Slow Down”

/

Dreamy and hypnotic, “Slow Down” is a captivating new track from Moon Beach, a Boston-based group that met on Craigslist .The verses’ lyrics aptly reflect a calling to slow down, playing amidst a relaxed assortment of synths and guitars. Lush synth pad caressing and guitar-laden trickling complements a more expansive chorus, the seamless nature of the structural shift staying true to the lyrical theme. Elevated guitar twangs approaching 02:30 play with a yearning appeal amidst the contemplative vocal turn. Serene, relaxed vocals intermingle with guitars and soft synths throughout for a fully satiating sound.

Moon Beach elaborate more on the track’s creative process:

“The song’s generation was the keyboardist playing the chords and the first thing the singer sang is what the verse is. At first it had a straight beat but we later changed it to swung and added a waltz rhythm in the bridge inspired by the song “My Man” by Delacey. It literally took many months for the band to come to a consensus on the verse synth sound.”

“Slow Down” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
