One of many highlights throughout Griffin Novie‘s album Balcony Bliss, the jangly and melodic “Monologue” now comes with a video. The Brooklyn-based artist enlisted director Brendan McKnight for the video, which visually traverses across city-scapes and studio comforts — capturing the track’s yearning, jangly feeling amidst colorful visual contrasts. The track represents a strong theme throughout the album, weighing the pursuit of one’s passions against safer, more conformed pursuits. “Try to get back to the first person,” Griffin sings as the chorus concludes, cleverly capturing the tumults of an inner monologue. Balcony Bliss as a whole is strongly recommended.
