David Thompson – “the wall”

/

David Thompson‘s new EP the wall is a treat for vintage synth-pop fans in the vein of Erasure. The Philadelphia-based artist shows ample melodic charm throughout, especially on the self-titled track. The catchy synth arps and M83-esque effect during the track’s chorus plays with especially infectious appeal. “this goon cant” is another highlight, touting chugging ’80s nostalgia. Reminiscent of Ice Choir and Erasure, David Thompson’s material shows a knack for nostalgic soundscapes and hooky melodies, certainly a recipe for success in the synth-pop aesthetic.
