With a gorgeous folk sound, “Still Tired” marks the debut single from singer/songwriter Jared Saltiel. Aesthetically echoing the lusher efforts from Elliott Smith and Paul McCartney, “Still Tired” knits a refreshing aesthetic. Gentle acoustics are gently accompanied by stirring woodwinds, with lyrics telling of “a dancer still struggling to heal the physical and emotional scars of her demanding childhood.” The lyrical reassurance of the best days being ahead plays with an emotively caressing turn.
Melodically, a gorgeous twist emerges in the final one-third, with orchestral adornments and more enthused vocals. Just when the track’s structure finds comfort in repetition, that particular section jumps out, with rewarding engagement. “Still Tired” is a great showing of Saltiel’s talented songwriting and sturdy folk aesthetic, making me anticipate future releases, for certain.
