Old Flame – “Limbs”

/

“Limbs” is a consuming new track from Old Flame, the Western Massachusetts-based act who impressed last year with the track “Young & In Debt.” Trickling guitars and a lush backing complement reflective vocals to start, gearing enjoyably into the swooning chorus: “Honey I was born to lie to your face.” Gliding guitars lead into a bouncy bridge at the two-minute mark, with wordless vocal enthusiasm exuding a soaring charm. Crunchy alt-rock guitar tones arrive thereafter, with fun accordance from the suave vocal disposition. All parts — the wordless croon, crunchy alt-rock guitars, and general melodic pull — converge beautifully in the closing moments.

The band describe the track as “a coming out story. It describes the ingredients of tangled love. It is an ode to the days of suppressed feelings and aching guilt.”

“Limbs” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
