Flourishing with melodic sophisti-pop charm, “Madness Over Might” is a new track from Julian Dinwoodie. The Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter impresses with ever-changing textures throughout, starting with solemn guitar strums and expanding with vigor thereafter. The “bleeding for a better day,” line coincides with a graceful, summery feeling emitted via charming acoustics and bright vocals. The one-minute mark sees a touch of synths amidst a bustling bass line, conjuring sophisti-pop nostalgia in the vein of Prefab Sprout. The lyrics enjoyably provide a push for perseverance and optimism amidst particularly harsh times. “Madness Over Might” is a solid output from Julian Dinwoodie.
“Several months ago, I was in a major rut, and it was difficult to find any sort of motivation or hope for the future,” Dinwoodie writes. “This song will hopefully inspire people not to ‘lose [their] will and wilt away’, but to believe in and look forward to a better time, even if it doesn’t seem to be on the horizon.”
