Jon Von Doe – “All I Wanted”

/

A new track from Nashville-based artist Jon Von Doe, “All I Wanted” succeeds with an escalating psych-tinged rock sound that soars. Fluid guitars and concise vocal inflections carry an accessible rock sound initially. The 01:30 turn showcases the artist’s powerful, emotive vocals as they soar alongside elongated guitar-based textures. “Bring your love home to me,” the artist repeats, as lingering guitars provide an affecting pull. Synths and bass emerge thereafter as the vocals take a reprieve in favor of a lush jam-friendly spectacle. A lovely guitar solo emerges past the three-minute mark, easing into the conclusion. “All I Wanted” shows some excellent songwriting, and an enjoyably developing track structure, to firmly put John Von Doe on my radar.

The track comes via the album Be Still, streaming below:

“All I Wanted” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2020’ Spotify playlist.
