Impressing with the track “Saturn Alarms” in January, Novelty Island continues to showcase a gripping, creative psych-pop array on new track “Jaunty View.” Full of wonderful structural and melodic twists, the track is further indication of Tom McConnell’s songwriting talents — which succeed in a particularly timeless vein. From the excited key-laden charm rounding the one-minute mark to the joyous psych-pop vocal harmonizing a minute later, the track’s adventurous spirit is evident early. Its second half shows a climactic, anthemic charm in the concluding repeating vocals. “Jaunty View” is a delight.
