“Get Right” is the latest track from Starlight Girls, a Brooklyn-based act with a penchant for uniquely captivating rockers. Such is evident on “Get Right,” which builds from buzzing guitars and vocal suaveness alongside mounting guitars and hypnotic backing wordless vocals. A murky guitar-based twist around 03:05 combines with ghostly keys and frantic percussion for an invigorating feel. From here on, the creeping backing vocals and rollicking guitars — exuding a western-y twang to conclude — fully consume into a satiating conclusion.
The track’s music video marks lead singer Christina Bernard’s foray into directing. The narrative music video for “Get Right” was shot on a commune in rural North Carolina, serving as “a surreal spoof on ’90s karaoke videos.”
