“Bombo Genesis” is a striking rocker from Three Sides, an act comprised of five friends from Moorpark, California. The track presents hybrid of rock with consuming funk and prog-friendly instincts, though still maintaining an accessible feel. The funk-laden guitar work and rhythm section is emphasized past the two-minute mark, with synths and a catchy vocal lead emerging around 02:50. A consuming guitar solo caps off this superb track.
“‘Bombogenesis’ is about a massive storm that hit our small town in Ventura County, California with heavy rain and hail storms,” the band writes. “Since we were locked in our house made studio for hours on end we wanted to make a fun cool song that sounds like the crazy storm itself.”
Another recent release from the band, “The Duel” reminds fondly of The Walkmen with its suave bass line, passionate vocals (especially at 01:26), rousing guitars. The organ-laden chorus also plays excellently, followed by an enjoyably bluesy swamp of guitars toward the conclusion. Both these efforts show Three Sides as a talented act seriously worth following.
