“Anticipation” is a new track from California-based solo artist Soft Shelter. The effort begins with tender guitar twangs, as subtle percussion emerges alongside mellow vocals. A denser, twangier mix is apparent by the one-minute mark, with ascending vocals fitting the bill. The “anticipating the point,” vocal section around 02:10 generates an emotive, consuming quality. “Anticipation” is a solid success from Soft Shelter, with timely lyrics that capture a state of anxiety when anticipating a crisis.
The artist explains more about the track’s creative process below:
“This song developed out of a jam session with a friend. We pretty much nailed down the structure that afternoon and had the central idea in place. I then worked at it from there, adding lots of percussive elements, synths, keyboard, bass, more guitar layers, lead and backing vocals. I think people will resonate with the warmth and energy of this track as well as the main theme of anxiously anticipating an event, especially given the current global health crisis.”
