Tokyo-based duo Downtown Market show a melodic guitar-based rock sound on the track “Stay With Me.” Per the band, the track was inspired by “Hesitation” by Hot Flash Heat Wave, a site favorite — so it’s no wonder this one clicked so easily. Alternating vocals lead over a melodic rhythm guitar, with a playful lead emerging around 01:15. The contrasting tones of the vocalists play with interesting allure. The band take pride in a no-frills, melodic sound — one that reminds of Kero Kero Bonito’s recent rock-forward direction. “Stay With Me” is an addictive listen, for certain.
