Beyond Beyond is an impressive rock album from Lightning Hunter, the side project of Charles Scandura (of New York-based band Negativehate). Touting a sound reminiscent of ’90s alternative and bands like A Perfect Circle, Beyond Beyond stirs with a variety of successes. “Giving All Things Credence” plays with a melodic rock fervor in under three minutes, contrasting stampeding percussion and heavier guitars with more fluid guitar lines and vocal bursts. Demonstrative of the band’s range and musicianship is instrumental track “Fields of Ancient Light,” a gracefully effective effort with twinkling keys and acoustic additions. These two tracks alone show the band’s eclectic reach and success in various stylistic realms.
