Pâle Regard – “Appel d’air”

/

The gorgeous “Appel d’air” is one of the most entrancing tracks I’ve heard this year. The Paris-based group Pâle Regard impresses strongly, sounding like the French version of TOPS here. A dreamy assortment of psych-friendly guitars and nocturnal synths converge over the delicately engaging vocals. The guitars slow down just after the one-minute mark, just momentarily — as a briskly infectious, synth-tinged rock section is quick to follow. The final 1/3 of the track is a full-out jam — with a theatrical, percussive build-up approaching the four-minute mark, followed by scorching guitars and one final vocal-led and synth-laden reprisal. “Appel d’air” is a fantastic track from Pâle Regard.

“Appel d’air” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Shoegaze / Post-Punk / Dream-Pop.
