“Water Me” is a very impressive track from Mik, an emerging artist from Australia. The track comes from the artist’s upcoming EP, which — judging by “Water Me” — will attract ample attention for the bedroom producer/vocalist/songwriter. Rousing vocals and ruminating acoustics begin an intimate folk feel to start, with an additional vocal layer and percussive snap adding to the development. Synths enter around one minute in, as the vocals assume a majestic, soaring quality. The synth incorporation is effective throughout, particular the 02:30 arp. The balancing of folk and electro-pop elements impress, and show Mik as a songwriter and producer with diverse talents.
“I wrote this song when I was recovering from a broken ankle a few months ago,” Mik says. “I wasn’t able to walk for 6 weeks and subsequently gradually went a little crazy from being cooped up inside. Alas, this song was written about self growth and leaving behind an old version of me.”
