Thraz – “Love Is an Island”

/

Thraz is the project of Icelandic musician Þráinn Guðbjörnsson, producing a sound on new track “Love Is an Island” that recalls the moody captivation of early Morrissey material. The track, which released last week, consumes in the first minute. Powerful vocals complement an initially understated guitar line, quickly expanding upon added distortion past the 30-second mark. The “ye of little faith,” chorus — with the various guitar layers and ascending vocal emotion — plays especially well. Additional guitar work around the two-minute mark adds further depth.

The artist plans to release another track soon, more in the folk music vein. An album is also underway, slated for release sometime early next year.

“Love Is an Island” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2019’ Spotify playlist.
