Meshing emotive strings with perkier indie-pop vocal sentiments, “Sun” is a pleasantly consuming track from Laughed the Body, the Toronto-based project led by Chris and Sean Panacci. The string additions remind fondly of The Clientele’s work. The twangy guitar accompaniment at 01:38 adds enjoyable depth to the track’s hazy yet melodic sound, followed up by the striking strings — all assembling for a hypnotic, blissful melody.
“You know when you’re obsessed with a certain goal or idea, not even knowing why, but you just keep chasing after it anyway?” the band writes. “Our new song, “Sun,” initially came as a bit of a metaphor for that feeling. I was looking at my plants and how they’re always reaching and growing in the direction of the light.” The project will release its forthcoming album, Change of Scenery on August 9th.
