Nashville 5-piece Cave Mode Shake impress with “This Is It,” the first of several singles the band will be releasing throughout the year. “It is a bit of a tribute to our favorite hangout while telling the story of being in your mid 20s, drowning in the decade that everyone tries so hard to make exciting,” the band says. “This song focuses on living in the moment and enjoying the small things, like hanging out at your favorite bar on a Friday night with your best friends.”
The track shows a sound with nostalgic rock vibes, akin to Foxygen’s grasp on throwback rock fun that alternates between suave and ferocious charisma. The driving guitars also remind fondly of Tom Verlaine. 02:30 onward touts shades of Suede, with the moody rock textures and emotive croon. Overall, Cave Mode Shake show a gripping rock sound with enjoyably loose categorizations throughout ’80s, ’90s, and contemporary influences.
