“Romance” is the debut single from mone, the electronic pop project of Danish sound-design student Nina Liv. She releases her music through urall.me-collective, a “a music and art platform created for diverse creative cooperation,” of which she is part of. Taking inspiration from acts like Little Dragon, Kate Bush, and Bjork, mone’s material is heavy on deep electronic textures and powerful vocals. Her soaring range during the track’s chorus reminds particularly of Kate Bush, and her tendency to rise from haunting verses to an soaring chorus within intoxicating soundscapes. Sample-based synthesizers and ambient production elements coalesce around mone’s vocal presence, with stabs of wintry synths escalating during the chorus. Melodically stimulating and sweepingly atmospheric, “Romance” is a fantastic debut from this rising artist.
