BERG is the project of Stockholm-born artist Alexandra Berglöf, who shows an entrancing vein of understated pop with a hypnotic folk-leaning flow. The singer/songwriter has recently crafted a collection of songs entitled Fake Love alongside Faris Badwan, lead singer of The Horrors. Badwan’s lush production meshes warmly with Berg’s lyrics concerning the “modern experience,” — which emphasizes the prevalence of escapism today, and how “we binge on what is fake in order to escape the reality of our existence.” “What If” is from this collection, showing a hazy and mellowed-out crooner with excellent production, especially prominent during the chorus as keys creep inward. I’m looking forward to hearing more from Berglöf and her collaborations with Badwan.
