Winnipeg-based project Warming is the synth-pop project of Brady Allard, who wrote his 12-song LP while living out of a van. Taking inspiration from ’80s pop music, evident in the nonchalant though melodic vocal presence mingling with guitar lines and synth-pop additions, Allard impresses with the newly released track “Dark.” A buzzing guitar presence heads the verses, while a perky and very ’80s-forward synth lead accompanies a more melodic delivery in the chorus, with Allard singing “Does it make you feel sad to know that life isn’t fair / Or is the weight off your chest now that there’s nothing left here / For you to know.” Soaring guitar additions at 02:36 helps bring this successful track to a satisfying conclusion.
