The Color Society – “Invalidate Me”

/

The lush, dreamy “Invalidate Me” comes from The Color Society’s recently released EP, Stargazing in Black and White. Mellow guitar jangles build to a memorable chorus – “invalidate me,” – at the 50-second mark, reminiscent stylistically to Wild Nothing (especially as the chorus’ subsequent bridge features wandering guitar lines). The band – comprised of Daniel Shrader, Shane Teague, Isaiah Sanchez, Nathan Shrader, and Tess Schoonhoven – show dedication to warmly melodic pop structures, while also adhering to the atmospheric textures of dream-pop, psychedelia, and alternative. The guitar work at 02:17 also stands out, developing from a twangy accompaniment to an atmospherically stirring lead in the absence of percussion.
