“The Light” is a captivating two-part single from Swedish psych-rockers Marble Mammoth, the band’s second single after their debut EP. A thickly resonating bass line coincides with jagged guitars to start, a crow-like sound effect chirping in the distance. The forceful vocal presence and escalating percussion approaching the one-minute mark reminds fondly of !!! (Chk Chk Chk).
The track shifts two minutes in to a lusher sound, with tranquil guitars accompanying the remnants of the initial bass line. The track builds back into energetic heights before the second part, where dreamy organs and more reserved vocals make for a fully consuming atmosphere. “The Light” is a thoroughly impressive showing from this rising Swedish psych-rock act.
