Bag of Brains are a husband-wife duo based in Detroit, crafting a consuming vein of lo-fi folk with psych-friendly sentiments. Newly released track “Time Will Break Your Heart” features a dual vocal approach, wearily navigating through prancing keys and acoustical strums. The vocal lead’s alternation between a high-pitched jerkiness and more solemn, low-pitched segment provides some enjoyable melodic variation. The track’s second half features more up-front vocal shifts and leads, remaining entrenched in the established magical-like soundscape. I’m reminded of parts Magnetic Fields, parts Wolf Parade, and parts Xiu Xiu.
