“So Long” is a new track from Plutinos’ upcoming debut full-length album, releasing on 11/28. Nate Barnes’ project already impressed earlier this year with “Falling Away” — its dreamy appeal reminding of The Clientele. Based on “So Long” and from what I’ve heard of the forthcoming album, Barnes is expanding his sound into more rock-based fervency, with enhanced rhythm sections and swirling guitar tones. He retains the dreamy, hypnotic allure of his previous sound, while bolstering its overall feel with a more dynamic use of guitars and rhythms, as is the case on “So Long.” Dreamy vocals are adorned by a variety of nocturnal, trickling guitars and menacing distortion alike. It’s a thunderously fun showing, and one that hints at the excellence of Plutinos’ forthcoming album.
