DannyDosha is the alias for Baltimore songwriter/guitarist/composer Daniel Maurice Barry. He got his start making hip-hop records in a family studio at age nine, since branching off into a variety of musical influences, ranging “from the old vinyl records of Sade and Luther Vandross to 90s hip-hop heavyweights such as Biggie and Nas.” Additionally, the past seven years has seen Barry teach himself play guitar and study blues, jazz, and rock.
This melding of various styles results in new track “Kelsey 2,” a release that’s a “three part record created in admiration of Cello player Kelsey Lu.” A faint electric guitar and calming vocals, both of the male and female variety, comprise the consuming track’s arsenal. There’s a Lenny Kravitz-like feel to the vocal tone, and it meshes well with the dashes of female vocals. This is a pleasant effort from DannyDosha.
