Boy Romeo – “Don’t Call Me Girl”

/

“Don’t Call Me Girl” is a super-catchy track from Boy Romeo, showing a power-pop sensibility reminiscent of Christopher Owens/Girls. The track is a highlight off the project’s recently released Shorts EP, recorded by project leader John Steiner after the band’s original iteration broke up.

Before the breakup, the original lineup of Boy Romeo released the Boy Romeo EP last year, a roaring set of power-pop tracks that was recorded with Dylan Wall (Craft Spells) at Sacramento recording studio. It’s a shame the band broke up, as that release was also very solid, but new tracks like “Don’t Call Me Girl” and its accompanying EP show definitively that the project remains very exciting under Steiner’s control and bedroom-pop sensibilities.
